In support of these programs, and in response to feedback received during our participation earlier this year in a conference of the National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC), we've developed a help center just for organizations who contribute mapping data to Google.

New Website Optimiser features just launched

Google Analytics is not the only product to announce some cool new features this week. The Website Optimiser team have also been busy introducing an Experiment API and a new reporting feature called over time charts. As you'll know from previous posts, Website Optimiser allows you to test page variations on your site to find out which content and design drives the most sales and leads for you.

Take advantage of advanced reports

For a long time, the Report Center has been the place to go to find detailed data about your campaign performance. Reports with dimensions like geographic performance and time of day can give you new insights through metrics that aren't available on the campaigns tab.
But there can be drawbacks to using the Report Center: customized reports take time to set up and run, and you have to navigate back to the Campaigns tab to take action on any insights you discover.

Introducing the Website Optimizer Experiment Management API

Today at the eMetrics conference in Washington DC the new Website Optimizer Experiment Management API was announced. The API allows for the creation and management of experiments outside of the Website Optimizer interface. I'd like to share a bit about why we are so excited about the API.

In the spirit of constant testing and improvement—as we urge you to do—we're planning some user testing of our own this month. If you have a spare hour, it'd be great to get your participation, and you'll get an AdWords credit! All you need to do is log in to your computer at a specific time and give feedback on some early feature concepts we're kicking around. Here are details:

  • The tests last 60 minutes
  • Compensation is a $100 AdWords credit
  • Once you confirm, we'll contact you to arrange the start time

To participate, you need to:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • sign our Usability Non-Disclosure Agreement
  • have a desktop or laptop computer with Windows 2000/XP and Internet Explorer installed (sorry, we can't support Macs quite yet!)
  • have a Broadband Internet connection or stronger (such as DSL, Cable, or T1)
  • have a phone (cell or land line) with a handless option so you can speak on the phone and use your computer simultaneously
